Google Temporarily Removes a New Pixel 10 Feature

Google’s fancy new Pixel 10 and Pixel 10 Pro are finally available, and users are taking advantage of its many new features, from a powerful Pro Res Zoom and Magic Cue to Google’s new Daily Hub. Unfortunately, the latter feature isn’t all that great, and Google’s removed it from phones until further notice.

Yes, the Daily Hub on the Pixel 10 is probably missing for everyone right now, but Google says it’ll be back later. For those unaware, “Daily Hub” is a new AI-powered feature on the Pixel 10 series. Google described it as “your personalized space with summaries and suggestions to simplify your day and help you reach your goals.” It’s similar to Samsung’s Now Brief and Now Bar in One UI 8, and just like Samsung’s implementation, it’s not all that great.

The idea is to have a dedicated spot for things you might need throughout the day. For example, on my Pixel 10 Pro XL, I see the weather, calendar entries, and other such information. However, when there isn’t a calendar entry to show, the Daily Hub serves up random YouTube Shorts that I don’t care about, along with random Gemini Google searches that may interest me. Yeah, it’s not the best experience.

However, it did say “Preview” at the top, which is Google’s way of suggesting the feature was in the testing phase. Apparently, it’s not good enough, and the preview has ended.

If you noticed the Daily Hub missing, you’re not alone. In a statement to 9to5Google, a Google spokesperson said, “To ensure the best possible experience on Pixel, we’re temporarily pausing the public preview of Daily Hub for users. Our teams are actively working to enhance its performance and refine the personalized experience. We look forward to reintroducing an improved Daily Hub when it’s ready.”

Not only were the suggestions and content not that helpful, but the Daily Hub’s location didn’t seem very great. It would randomly appear at the top left of your Pixel screen, near the persistent date widget. That, or you’d find it at the top of the Google Discover feed. I didn’t see it every day, either, which I found somewhat odd. Another problem, at least in my opinion, is the lack of customization. Considering how customizable the new Pixel 10 is, I was hoping Google would give us a way to fine-tune the Hub. Nope.

All this is to say that the Daily Hub has been temporarily paused until further notice. Google either noticed the negative feedback or someone at Team Pixel decided it wasn’t up to par and wanted to improve things.

For what it’s worth, Samsung’s Now Bar isn’t all that great either. Sure, the company made a bunch of changes in follow-up One UI 7 and One UI 8 updates, and it’s improving with each new update. We anticipate Google doing something similar by making refinements, adjusting what the AI chooses to add to the Hub, maybe some user customization, and then re-releasing the feature once it’s polished and ready for everyone.
