Xiaomi 17 Pro Max, 17 Pro, and 17: The Next-Level Flagship Smartphones Are Official
Xiaomi has officially unveiled its latest ultra-premium smartphones in China — the Xiaomi 17 Pro Max, 17 Pro, and 17. These new flagships come packed with Qualcomm’s cutting-edge Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, massive high-capacity batteries, and, for the Pro models, an extra rear display.
This launch comes right after Xiaomi introduced its 15T lineup in Europe and expanded into the large home appliance market with a washer-dryer and a multi-door refrigerator. At its conference in Germany on September 24, the brand confirmed the new Xiaomi 17 series for the Chinese market, skipping the “16” generation altogether.
Dual-Screen Pro Models
The Xiaomi 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max feature an innovative 2.9-inch rear display powered by HyperOS 3. This secondary screen — with a dual punch-hole cutout for the cameras — can be used as a viewfinder for photos, to display time and notifications, or even as a mini gaming screen when paired with a Game Boy-style case.
While some may see it as a gimmick, the rear display not only adds uniqueness to the design but also helps save power.
Massive Batteries Without the Weight
Battery capacity is one of the standout features. Thanks to silicon-carbon batteries, the Pro Max carries a huge 7,500 mAh cell with 100W fast charging, while the Pro packs 6,300 mAh. Despite these XXL batteries, the phones remain surprisingly light: 219g for the Pro Max and 192g for the Pro.
However, Xiaomi may adjust these capacities for the European versions, expected around MWC 2026 in Barcelona.
Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 Debut
Under the hood, the new models are among the first to feature the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, Qualcomm’s latest chip promising more power and greater on-device AI capabilities.
Both phones sport large displays: 6.9 inches (Pro Max) and 6.3 inches (Pro), with peak brightness up to 3,500 nits and a 1–120Hz adaptive refresh rate — applied to both the main and rear screens.
Photography in Partnership with Leica
Even without an Ultra model this year, Xiaomi hasn’t abandoned its camera ambitions. The Pro versions come equipped with three 50 MP sensors:
- A Light Fusion 950 main sensor
- An ultra-wide lens
- A 5x telephoto lens
As usual, Leica remains Xiaomi’s photography partner.
The base Xiaomi 17 also includes the triple 50 MP setup but swaps the 5x telephoto for a 2.6x zoom lens. It loses the rear display but compensates with a 7,000 mAh battery.
Pricing and Availability
- Xiaomi 17: ¥4,449 (~€540)
- Xiaomi 17 Pro: ¥4,999 (~€600)

For now, these models are available only in China, with international release details yet to be confirmed. European prices, however, are expected to be higher once they launch.
